Other InfoPosted overseas after the beginning of 1916, but on 8th June 1918 was listed as Missing and by the end of August was listed as a Prisoner of War. He eventually died (Bromsgrove Registration District), aged 71, in late 1966. His brother Private Ernest Ballard (19178) served with the 9th Battalion and died of his wounds in Gallipoli.
