Other InfoJoined the 7th Battalion (Territorials) in 1908. He started the First World War as a Corporal and ended as a Regimental Sergeant Major. He rejoined the Territorials (7th Battalion) and became Lieutenant Quartermaster in 1940., at the age of 50, and went with the B.E.F. to France. At the end of that year he was invalided out of service, but immediately joined the Home Guard and as Major, became a company commander in the Kidderminster Battalion. He was awarded the M.B.E. in the 1958 New Years Honours List. He died in Kidderminster General Hospital on the 5th July 1963, at the age of 72. In his civil life he worked for The Carpet Manufacturing Company in Kidderminster for 60 years, joining the firm as a member of the designing staff in 1903. After WW1 went to the dyehouse and in 1939 he was made head dyer, a position he held till he retired. His home was at Beeleigh, Linden Grove, Kidderminster. Was awarded the Territorial Efficiency Medal on the 10th March 1943.
