Other Info | London Gazette 3 Sept. 1919 citation for D.C.M. "On 20th July, 1918, near Beaussart a battery was being shelled. One shell crushed a dug-out and buried a number of men. The Battery Commander sent for assistance, and he at once rushed to the spot. He was mainly responsible for the rescue of five men, the dug-out being filled with gas. He worked gallantly for four hours, during which time the bombardment continued. He has always shown coolness and gallantry in his work as a stretcher bearer." |
