Other InfoBorn in Stourbridge, Worcestershire. He was a reservist in 1914 having originally enlisted in Stourbridge pre-WW1, giving an address in Quarry Bank, Staffs, probably in July 1904. In 1911 He was living at 217 High Street, Quarry Bank and employed as a clay minder hewer. Recalled for service in August 1914 and embarked to Boulogne, France on the 13th August 1914 with the 2nd Battalion Worcestershire Regiment. On the 25th October 1914 he wrote home to his brother and had presumably not been wounded by then. On the 1st November 1914 he died of wounds following action at the Battle of Gheluvelt. He was originally buried in the avenue on the SE side of the grounds of the Chateau about 1½ miles West of Ypres on the Ypres-Vlamertinghe road. He is commemorated on China Wall, Perth Cemetery, Belgium, between Ypres and Zillebeke.
