Other Info | Always known as Frank. After he enlisted he first joined for duty 16th May 1916 at Kidderminster. Served in France from September 1916 to 20th April 1918. When he was discharged he was suffering general debility, shell shock and a shrapnel injury to middle finger on the right hand. He had been treated at the Bethnal Green Military Hospital, Totting Grove Military Hospital and the 2nd Australian Military Hospital. Between the 21st to 31st March 1918 he was posted missing, but later from the 21st was said to be a prisoner of war at was at Limburg, Germany. He was captured at Fayet. Repatriated at Dover on the 6th January 1919. He joined up in the Worcestershire Regiment and served at the Battle of the Somme and fought at the battle of St Quinton in France, where he was taken prisoner by the Germans. He spent nine months in a cold damp coal mine which injured his health. When he was discharged he was 35 years old.
He died back home in Cornwall on the 27th March 1954. |
