Other InfoHe was a veteran of the Boer War and served with the 5th Royal Warwickshire Militia. He was on the reserve list so received notice to rejoin the Army on the 17th August 1914 and was attested at Birmingham Town into 5th Battalion. After some garrison duty at Plymouth and Fowey he was sent to the 12th Battalion for training. He trained at Wareham (Worgret) and Alma Barracks at Blackdown. He was drafted to the 9th Battalion in October 1915 and served with them at Gallipoli (Sulajik, Suvla) till the battalion withdrew in January 1916. He attained the rank of Lance Corporal.
