Other InfoBorn in 1886. Previously served with the 1st Battalion Worcestershire Regiment from 21st September 1904 to 21st September 1907. Recalled for service from Army Reserves on the 5th August 1914 joining the 3rd Battalion. He landed in France with the 3rd Battalion Worcestershire Regiment on the 12th August 1914. Appointed Lance Corporal on the 25th October 1914 and then promoted to Corporal on the 7th June 1915. Appointed Acting Sergeant on the 27th November 1915 and promoted to Sergeant on the 15th January 1916. He was wounded in action (gun shot wound) on the 27th April 1916 and taken the the No. 2 General Hospital at Havre on the 29th April 1916. He was returned back the England on the 2nd May 1916 and taken to the Infantry Royal Military Hospital at Wimbourne on the 3rd May 1916. After treatment he was posted back to the Depot Worcestershire Regiment on the 4th April 1916. On the 25th July 1916 posted to the 6th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment. Transferred to the Devon Regiment on the 24th August 1916 and posted to the 3rd Battalion Devon Regiment on the 2nd August 1917. He went absent without leave from the 26th to the 28th August 1917. On the 28th August 1917 he gave him self up the the Civil Police in Pontypridd. He was tried and convicted by District Court Marshal and his rank was reduced to Corporal on the 9th October 1917. He was posted the the Pioneer Depot at Reading on the 15th June 1918. Posted to the 2nd Battalion Devon Regiment in France on the 24th July 1918 and then to the 1/5th Battalion Devon Regiment on the 18th September 1918. Appointed Acting Sergeant on the 1st October 1918 and promoted back to Sergeant on the 1st December 1918. Returned to the U.K. from Dunkirk on the 31st January 1919.
