Other InfoDied age 24. Son of Samuel and Margaret Bannister, of Victoria House, Cowleigh Road, North Malvern, Worccestershire. DUISANS BRITISH CEMETERY, ETRUN, Pas de Calais, France - grave Ref: III. J. 36. He was a pupil of the Royal Grammar School Worcester between 1905 to 1911. Served in the Gallipoli Peninsula with the 4th Battalion. He was an officer in the 4th Battalion of the Worcestershire Regiment who were involved in the "First Battle of the Scarpe", part of the opening phase of the Battle of Arras. They met and repelled a German counter attack, suffering very light casualties. Captain Bannister was the only officer fatality, dying of his wounds (He had his left arm blown off on the morning of the 14th April 1917).
