Other InfoHe was wounded during the battle of Ypres in July 1917, serving with the 3rd Battalion and was evacuated back home. His wounds kept him out of the latter stages of the war. After the war in 1920 he went to India with the 3rd Battalion until it was disbanded in 1922. He was then posted to the 1st Battalion and served in both India and China. He was later posted to the 2nd Battalion in Malta. He retired in 1935 with the rank of Captain and spent his time fruit farming in Hampshire. At the start of WW2 in 1939 he was recalled and given the rank of Brevet Major (army number 15149) on the 12th September 1939. After a brief period with the Depot he was initially posted to the 2nd Battalion in India. He was later transferred to the 1st Battalion and commanded 'B' Company. He service in the Western desert. He was captured at Tobruk in June 1942 and was sent to Italy as a POW. From here he escaped to Switzerland where he was interned for the duration. He died on the 5th August 1953 at Eastbourne, after a long illness.
