Other InfoEdward Frank Du Sautoy's life-long interest in the Army began when he was commissioned with the 1st Volunteer Battalion, Sherwood Foresters in 1902. He joined the firm of Walter Somers Limited, Halesowen in 1905, and became a Director. In 1906 he transferred to the 7th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment, and was in command of the Halesowen Company when it went to France in 1915. Later he was transferred to the newly-formed Tank Corps, but subsequently he returned to The Worcestershire Regiment and commanded the 7th Battalion from 1922 to 1928. For many years from 1919 he was a military member of the Worcestershire Territorial Army Association, and in 1938 he was appointed County Cadet Commandant for Worcestershire. He was also a member of the Executive Committee of the British National Cadet Association. He commanded the 2nd Worcestershire (Bromsgrove) Battalion Home Guard from its formation in May 1940, until he was transferred to South Staffordshire Home Guard in May 1941, to command "K" Sector Garrison. He was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant for Staffordshire in 1944, and was awarded the O.B.E. the same year. Colonel Edward Frank DuSautoy, who had lived at Eardisland, Herefordshire since 1944, died on 19th April 1962 at the home of his daugher, Mrs. Michael Christie, The Old Vicarage, Haddenham, Buckinghamshire. He was 76 years old.
