Other Info | Died age 22. Son of Frederick and Margaret Ann Farmer, of 145 Bromyard Road, Worcester. ROCLINCOURT MILITARY CEMETERY, Pas de Calais, France - grave Ref: I. D. 14. He had worked in the County Finance Office at the Shirehall prior to joining up. After 4 months training at Newmarket, he was commissioned into the 14th Worcesters (Pioneer Battalion). At the time of his death, the Battalion was split into small detachments based at St NichoIas, one mile North of Arras, having already done useful work on defences and communications since the termination of the Arras battles. Shell fire caused occasional casualties, one of whom was 2/Lieut. Farmer. He had only been in France for 7 weeks when he was killed. He was a pupil of the Royal Grammar School Worcester from 1906 to 1912. |
