Other InfoResigned his commission 10th November 1919 and joined the Territorial Regiment of the Kings Own Regiment based in Barrow-in-Furness (Army Number 3703597). Note he was in the Kings Own regiment before the war having joined in 1907. Joined Worcestershire Regiment on the 10th May 1909. On the 15th May 1915 as a Lance Sergeant he was reported wounded. CITATIONS FOR HIS MEDALS READ: D.C.M. (London Gazette 11th December 1916): "For conspicuous gallantry in action. He assumed command of and led his company with great courage and determination. Later, he led a small party forward and captured several prisoners." MILITARY CROSS (London Gazette 18th June 1917): 2nd Lieut. Charles Hackett, Worcestershire Regt. "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He was largely responsible for repelling a strong enemy counter-attack, and although wounded continued to lead his men in the most gallant.manner." MILITARY CROSS (BAR) (London Gazette 15th October 1918): Lieut. (A./Capt.) Charles Hackett, M.C., Worc. R. "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. While visiting a standing patrol he located an enemy post. He got another officer to join him, and rushed the post, capturing two prisoners. He returned, and again went out with a small patrol, and brought back eleven prisoners and a machine gun, having killed one of the enemy with his revolver. He showed the greatest coolness and initiative."
