K. 98. "Lieutenant Hubert H S Laughton, 2nd Worcestershire Regiment, who died at the Epsom Manor War Hospital, on November 25, of septic pneumonia, aged 21, was the youngest son of the late Sir John Knox Laughton, R.N., and Lady Laughton of Wimbledon. He was educated at the Wimbledon Catholic College, King's College School, Wimbledon, and King's College London where he showed promise of a brilliant career in science. He was gazetted to the Worcestershire Regiment in August 1915, before reaching his 18th birthday, and a year later went to France, where he was in the forefront of the fighting for two years. He received a bullet wound in the thigh on October 28, near Le Cateau, and was progressing favourably, when he contracted influenza followed by septic pneumonia. He was only ill three days."
