Other Infoeldest son of Sydney Bolton and Elizabeth Russell. He was educated at Campden Grammar School. His Military Cross citation reads: T./2ndLt. Sydney Gordon Russell, Worc. R. "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When two of his platoon posts had been raided and occupied by the enemy, he at once went forward to eject the enemy. Finding that the latter were about fifty-strong, he returned, collected more men from other posts, and, working round from the rear of the raided posts, succeeded in re-occupying them from the right flank. Having reorganised and supervised the evacuation of the wounded, he went round the whole of his company's front to ascertain whether the whole of his front was intact. It was due to his rapid grasp of the situation, and great skill and coolness that the line was re-established by daylight." After WW1 he became a furniture maker and designer. In 1925 Russell won a Gold Medal at the Paris Exhibition with a cabinet. Awarded a C.B.E. on the 1st January 1947. He was awarded a Knighthood (K.B.E.) by the Queen on the 8th February 1955. He died on the 7th October 1980.
