Other Info | Was serving in 'D' Company of the 10th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment when he was gassed and captured and taken prisoner of war at Messines on the 10th April 1918. Became a POW at Termonde (Dendermonde), Belgium and then sent to Dulmen POW Camp. In WW2, Harry enlisted with the Royal Army Ordnance Corp in September 1939 and somehow ended up as a North Africa Campaign as Corporal in the 8th Army under Montgomery. He was a Desert Rat and a Dunkirk Veteran. He died September 1967 aged 67. The WW1 gas had affected one of his eyes and his lungs - the latter contributed to his death. |
